The outer lid reads “Grow Old Along With Me! The Best Is Yet To Be”, with Robert Browning credited beneath the message. Inside the removable lid is a romantic inscription beginning “i carry your heart with me (i carry it in my heart)”, attributed on the design to e.e. cummings, with a small paired-bird motif and Aladean compass branding.

The compass face features a traditional directional rose and needle beneath glass. These existing design inscriptions are included with the standard item. They do not require a separately purchased personalization service.
