Brief History:- At the dawn of the Napoleonic Age, cuirassiers still accoutred themselves with the tricorn chapeau. Despite Kellermann and Bourcier's recommendation in 1798 to upgrade to a helmet, it wasn't until 1801 that the switch was made. Though it proved impractical—not stable, inadequate protection, easily smashed under saber blows, and the horsehair mane making it susceptible to rust—its appearance has become an iconic representation of Napoleonic warfare.
