dishwasher safe?
As These viking drinking horn are handmade from 100% natural and real Horn we do not advise them to be washed in a Dishwasher and hence No these are not suitable for dishwasher. These horn beer mugs needs to be hand washed and then cleaned and dried with a soft cloth. For best life it is advised that you Dry these drinking mugs after every use. Occassionally there an odor may develop over a period of time which is normal for Real horn drinking mugs just like any other natural leather products. The smell can be get rid off by watching easy DIY tutorials and using the techniques.

Does it tip over in stand if theres mead in the horn?
These are all handmade viking drinking horn cups & mugs made from real natural bovine horn and the craftsman balance it while empty. While most are stable some can tip over when full . Each drinking horn has a unique shape , weight this makes it impossible to make them alike and hence each will have a unique capacity level to which it will not tip over. Being 100% handmade and natural Real horn cups each of these drinking horn has a unique shape, size, color & texture. It will be best to under fill these to avoid tip overs though. Although some of the drinking horns are so stable that they will not fall even if they overflow. I purchased this as a fun gift. Certainly for the money, it hits the mark. The fit in the holder is precarious but this isnt a serious drinking apparatus, anyone drinking out of it probably will not be putting a drink down at all. The point was shaved down on my horn, which I appreciate so no drunken stabbings can take place with it. It comes with a looped holder so you can bring your horn to any gathering and any gathering will be much improved with this drinking horn.
Read the whole product description before you buy. You said that your horn looked nothing like how it was shown in the picture. Well, these are hand crafted and unique, each of them looks different. Which you would know if you had read the description.
Anyway its a good quality, good looking horn which is a perfect compliment to the ASOIAF cookbook; put your spiced wine or ale in there.
